EPIC adventures at the Masai Mara. We spent three days with Stephen who picked us up from Lake Naivasha and drove us to the Masai Mara. We had an incredible time. He drove us around for hours. We saw absolutely everything that it was possible to see (lions, a leopard with kittens hiding in the undergrowth, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles, jackals, hyenas, topi, so many wildebeest, zebras, giraffes, various antelope and gazelles, ostriches, numerous vultures and other birds). It was EPIC. Stephen was absolutely delightful and went out of his way to ensure we had an incredible time. He took great care to point out everything. He shared detailed information on the different animals we saw, even explaining the relationships between the different lions and lionesses that we saw. He was also an incredibly respectful driver. So many of the other drivers, drove right up to the animals, in a way that was at times distressing. Stephen never did that. He always kept a respectful distance. I cannot recommend this company highly enough. They are a small Kenyan-owned enterprise so you'll be supporting a local business rather than an international conglomerate. Don't hesitate to book. You definitely won't regret it.

Excellent company We had a great experience with Capture Kenya. We booked to go to Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Ithumba Camp for 2 nights which was fabulous. Henry was super to deal with and our guide and driver Julius, took really good care of us. I had a fall and needed to go for x-rays and Julius and Henry made sure I was accompanied through the whole process and well looked after. I really appreciated their care of me then, and their expertise during our visit to Sheldrick. Julius was an excellent and safe driver and Capture Kenya thought about every detail. I woukd definitely recommend them.

Phenomenal trip with Capture Kenya We wanted to visit Kenya and Tanzania with our parents and booked our trip through Capture Kenya Expeditions and it’s one of the best decisions we made. From the onset, I could sense the honesty and passion Henry had as he helped me craft the itinerary. My parents are in their 60s so I wanted to ensure their safety and comfort, Henry was very helpful from the start and understood my concerns. I had multiple queries and changes during the planning phase, Henry was very patient and accommodating. When booking a trip and paying upfront to a person you have never met, trust is of utmost importance. And from all the companies I approached I could sense the Henry’s genuineness and attention to detail which stood out miles apart from the rest. We were assigned Stephen to be our guide in Kenya and he was absolutely amazing. We had a few long drives between cities and he was very safe and cautious with his driving. He was knowledgeable, entertaining and very kind to my parents. We felt like he was part of the family and had a wonderful time during our game drives. He was very accommodating and made sure we had the best game drives with plenty of good sightings. Vincent was our guide in Tanzania and he too was great, making sure we had a good experience witnessing the migration in Serengeti and going out of his way for us to experience great sightings. This was our first trip to Kenya and Tanzania, and thanks to Capture Kenya it was one memorable trip. They have a true passion to ensure their guests get the best experience. We highly recommend Capture Kenya and cannot wait to visit Kenya with them again.

Honeymooners on Safari We cannot say enough amazing things about Capture Kenya Expeditions. They are a small, Kenyan-based travel agency specializing in Kenyan safaris, and choosing them for our honeymoon was one of the best decisions we made. We reached out to get pricing for a trip for two that was half safari and half relaxation, and they quickly put together a 10-day itinerary that included safaris in the Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru, followed by a relaxing beach stay in Zanzibar. The itinerary was perfect from the start — we didn’t need to change a thing — but they were incredibly flexible and accommodating if we had wanted to. Everything was coordinated over email, and communication was seamless. They were responsive, kind, and incredibly organized throughout the entire planning process. You can truly tell how much they care about their clients and the experiences they provide. A special shout-out to Henry, who ensured we had a wonderful experience from start to finish, and to Magdaline, my main travel advisor, who I communicated with throughout planning. She was fantastic. Another huge thank-you to Stephen, our guide throughout our time in Kenya. Because of him, we were able to see the Big Five and experience so many once-in-a-lifetime moments. Having two game drives per day was absolutely incredible and made the safari experience unforgettable. After Kenya, the second half of our honeymoon in Zanzibar was the perfect way to relax and unwind after such an exciting adventure. We decided to truly go all out for our honeymoon, and it was worth every penny. Thanks to Capture Kenya, every hotel knew it was our honeymoon, and each one made us feel so celebrated and special. 10/10 — we would recommend Capture Kenya Expeditions without hesitation.

One couldn't ask for a better guide: One in a million !!! My friend & I have just spent 14 idyllic days on a tailor-made Safari, where we were incredibly well looked after from start to finish by Julius, our dedicated and experienced driver for the entire trip. Frankly, we could not have asked for a better or more knowledgeable guide; in fact, this man succeeded in transforming this vacation, into, quite literally the MOST EXCITING experience of my entire life! Thanks to this man’s efforts, intuition and patience, we were lucky enough to spot each of ‘The Big Five’ and so much more besides... He was highly knowledgeable about all the wildlife we encountered. With each individual sighting, he would answer any questions we had, telling us a multitude of interesting facts about that particular species. On the rare occasion he was unable to provide an immediate answer to a question, he would research the subject and subsequently come up with some relevant information. Even during the transfers between the various parks, Julius proved to be a mine of fascinating facts, whether it be pointing out places of interest or maybe sharing an interesting anecdote about a historical event – a truly passionate and wonderful teacher and a pleasure to be with. A real asset to Capture Kenya Expeditions

Vi fikk sett alle « The big 5 «.

Family Trip of a Lifetime – Thanks to Henry and Capture Kenya Where do we even start? We did a lot of research and reached out to multiple highly recommended safari operators early in the planning process. Since this was a big trip, we had plenty of questions and revisions to work through as we built the right itinerary. From the beginning, Henry stood out from the crowd—his thoroughness, responsiveness, transparency, and perfect English made everything easy. He was endlessly patient as we worked together to create the ideal safari for our family of five. He was also incredibly accommodating when we had to adjust plans due to changed minds and a rescheduled return flight. When we arrived in Kenya, Henry had arranged for someone to meet us right at the gate, assist with our bags, and escort us smoothly through security to his vehicle. At first, we didn’t think much of it—but later in the trip, after seeing many other safari vehicles, we realized how exceptional Henry's setup was. His safari truck was immaculately clean, spacious, and well equipped, and no matter how muddy we left it the day before, it was magically spotless the next morning. We visited five wildlife parks, meaning we spent plenty of time traveling between regions. Add in daily game drives, and we logged many hours in the truck with Henry—and we loved every bit of it. Our three kids would actually argue over who got to sit in the front to hang out with Henry, who quickly began to feel like family. On long drives, he graciously answered our never-ending questions about animals and Kenyan culture, and even joined in on our family’s version of “21 Questions.” The time flew by with very few “Are we there yets?” Game Drives This is why we came to Kenya, and Henry delivered in every way. When we first saw a single zebra, we were beyond excited. Little did we know that over the next couple of weeks we’d see thousands of zebra, wildebeests, gazelles, buffalo, and impala—and hundreds of elephants, giraffes, lions, and waterbuck. We also saw seven rhinos, dozens of cheetahs, adorable cubs, and even the elusive leopard—the only species we only saw once, completing our “big five” list. Henry had an uncanny ability to spot animals before anyone else and positioned us right at the action—often without other vehicles crowding the scene, and never in a way that felt intrusive to the wildlife. By the end of the trip, we were so spoiled we barely looked twice at animals in the distance—we had already spent so much time up close with nearly every species we’d hoped to see. We kept a detailed journal of sightings (including an impressive list of birds), and it goes on for pages. There was truly nothing we hoped to see that we missed. Tribe Visits This became an unexpected highlight. We visited a Maasai village in Kenya (a bit commercialized, but still interesting), and then two tribal communities in Tanzania. The Tanzanian visits were raw, unscripted, and deeply moving. We got a true glimpse into the lives of a hunter-gatherer tribe and a metalworking tribe, both living deep in the bush. These weren’t tourist performances—they were real, human experiences we’ll never forget. Meals & Logistics While most meals were provided at lodges, Henry also handled on-the-go lunches and local restaurants with seamless coordination. He made sure we had everything we needed at all times—including custom metal water bottles with our names on them, which were magically full every morning. These thoughtful touches made the experience even more personal. Safety We really appreciated how Henry struck the perfect balance between keeping us safe and making sure we got the full experience. This was true whether we were out in the bush on game drives, driving between regions, or spending time in villages and cities. We never felt unsafe. He was calm, aware, and clearly experienced—and that helped us relax and enjoy everything around us without worry. The more we reflect on this trip—and all the logistics that had to work perfectly behind the scenes—the more amazed we are. With Henry and Capture Kenya, we didn't have to think about any of it. Everything just worked. And that’s the mark of true professionalism. We rarely revisit the same destination twice, and we certainly don’t start planning a return trip before the first one is even over. But Henry made this journey so special that we—and our kids—are already dreaming of coming back. When we do, there’s only one person we’d ever want as our guide. Thank you, Henry. We couldn’t have asked for more.

Holiday of a lifetime! We visited Kenya for the first time with Capture Kenya in November 2024, having postponed a previously planned trip, due to COVID. Capture Kenya came highly recommended by a friend who has used them numerous times, initially I was inclined to use a company based in the UK but I am so glad I went with a Kenyan based company and communication was easy with the lovely Magdaline via email or WhatsApp. They were very open to suggesting an itinerary that accommodated our budget and requirements. The four of us did a six night safari with the same driver who picked us up from the airport and stayed with us until dropping us off for our return flight. Julius was incredible, extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient - answering questions that he must have been asked numerous times. Our itinerary meant very long drives between camps but the safari van was very comfortable and we had toilet breaks in useable restrooms and it was really interesting to see Kenya and it’s differing terrains and people. The three camps we went to were all interesting in their own ways but a special shout out goes to Mara Ngenche, which was a truly unforgettable experience. Julius always strived to give us a memorable safari experience, with prime viewing spots and unforgettable special treats like the bush breakfast and sundowner drinks by a roaring fire. We met Henry, the friendly Capture Kenya owner, at the end of the trip and he was so concerned to see if we had had a good experience. Not knowing what to expect, having never been on a safari, we can’t emphasise enough how thrilling the whole safari experience is and how beautiful and special Kenya is. We felt completely looked after by Capture Kenya and can’t recommend them enough.

Baby elephants - and much more! This was my third trip with Capture Kenya, and it won’t be my last. Owner Henry Gathura works with me each time to be sure I can revisit people and places that have captured my heart and also add new adventures to the trip. Together we have crafted safari experiences for me and others that support conservation efforts for elephants, rhinos, cheetahs and more as well as marginalized women and girls in Maasai communities. The access he’s helped to secure offers an unparalleled experience. Beyond that, I learn more each time about animals in the wild and have great fun throughout the experience. One of my personal interests is with elephants, and Henry is among a handful of Kenyan guides specializing in trips that offer up close access to orphan elephants being reintegrated into the wild and the keepers who know them best. Henry will work with you to customize a trip that matches your budget and interests in a way I’m not sure any other company would. Plus, he’s the ultimate in class and kindness and generosity.

Capture Kenya Captured our Hearts Capture Kenya Expeditions provided our group an amazing experience while visiting the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust eco-lodges, where we were able to interact with the orphaned elephants and support conservation efforts of elephants and wildlife in general--and we had numerous up-close encounters with a variety of wildlife in the National Parks of Kenya! Henry was an excellent tour guide--he has in-depth knowledge of the wildlife and was able to identify the majority of birds encountered. He is clearly respected by other guide companies and thus was able to learn the locations of species of interest (lions, cheetah) and gladly shared information with others. He communicated our daily itinerary, managed expectations, and provided a number of thoughtful touches to our tour to ensure we had a memorable safari and comfortable lodging stays.
