Detailed Itinerary

This safari will offer a glimpse of what East Africa has to offer. You will have an amazing safari experience in Samburu Game Reserve; enjoy the largest Black rhino and Chimpanzee sanctuary in Ol Pejeta. Ol Pejeta also has the only surviving northern white rhino with an incredibly rich diversity of the big five. Wild dogs are also to be seen while on this safari.

Visit the land of Wildebeest Migration in Mara and Serengeti and if lucky, witness the river closing or the calving. You will also visit the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural wildlife safari sites. Lake Manyara National Park offers the spectacular view and is famous for its tree-climbing lions among other animals.

Day 1: You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya and the starting point for many safaris. Nairobi which means ‘cool water’ in the language of the Masai is now the main gateway to East Africa.

Overnight: Nairobi Serena Hotel (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 2: You will travel to Amboseli National Park, set against the beautiful backdrop of Mt Kilimanjaro. After settling in, this afternoon take off on a game drive to absorb the beautiful scenery of the park and watch for animals in the wild. Dinner and overnight at the lodge Accommodation at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge – (Full Board)

Day 3: Today keep a watch for elephants and the many species of wildlife that call Amboseli National Park home during morning and afternoon game drives. During your afternoon drive, visit the Observation Hill and absorb the breathtaking views of Mt Kilimanjaro or enjoy sundowner drinks. Overnight at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge – (Full Board)

Day 4: You will leave Amboseli Park after breakfast and arrive at the Kenya- Tanzania border by 0930hrs. After the briefing and cross border formalities, you will proceed to Arusha where you will check in at Arusha Coffee Lodge for lunch. Afterward you will continue with the drive en route to Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area. On arrival, you will check in at your overnight lodge where you will enjoy the sunset on the crater rim. Meals and Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge – (Full Board)

Day 5: After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes and drive into the crater floor for half day game viewing. The Crater is an open circular landscape of 20km in diameter home to thousands of pink flamingoes, and the surrounding acacia thickets that are home to rhinos, elephants and elands among others. After lunch, proceed to the crater rim and onward to Oldupai Gorge. Here you will visit the oldest fossils of human life to ever have been found. Thereafter, you will proceed to Serengeti National Park for overnight. Meals and Overnight: Mbuzi Mawe Serena Luxury Tented Camp – (Full Board)

Day 6 and Day 7: You will have a full day exploring this great park and enjoying the wildebeest among other animals. You can opt for a full day game drive with picnic lunch boxes retuning to the camp in the evening or morning and evening game drives. The thing which catches most of our attention is the sheer number of animals present: zebras, Thompson´s and Grant´s gazelles, hartebeest, buffalos, lions, jackals, hyenas as well as the annual wildebeest migration. Serengeti…… the endless plains!!!! Meals and Overnight: Mbuzi Mawe Serena Luxury Tented Camp –Deluxe Room (Full Board)

Day 8: After breakfast, you will be driven to Seronera Airstrip for your 0940hrs scheduled flight to Tarime. On arrival, you will be transferred by road (20kms) to Sirari border. After border formalities, you will proceed by road for another 31kms to Migori Airstrip for another short flight to Mara arriving 1225hrs. On arrival you will be met by your guide for transfer to the camp for lunch – just ten minutes’ drive away. Meals and overnight: Mara Intrepids – (Full Board)

Day 9 and 10: During the rest of your stay at the Mara Reserve, you will have morning and afternoon game drives. The early mornings are one of the best times to view the animals as this is when they are their most active before the heat of the day sets in and after a midmorning of relaxation and lunch, head out into the reserve for a chance to tick off  some more animals on your “must see” list. You will also visit the Mara River for the wildebeest migration crossing routes.  Meals and overnight in the lodge Overnight at Mara Intrepids – (Full Board)

Day 11: You will drive to Elementaita arriving for lunch. Afternoon at leisure at uniquely situated camp on the shoreline of sapphire-blue Lake Elementaita where hundreds of thousands of birds congregate. Meals and overnight:  Lake Elementaita Serena Camp – (Full Board)

Day 12: You will have a game drive in Nakuru National park: The Park’s thriving mammal population includes buffalos, baboons, impalas, Rothschild giraffe, bushbucks and waterbucks.  The rhino sanctuary was established to protect this highly endangered species.  A good number of both white and black rhinos are found in this park in. You will have picnic lunch in the park. Later you will drive back to Elementaita. Meals and overnight:  Lake Elementaita Serena Camp – (Full Board)

Day 13: Today you arrive at the tree hotel in Aberdare National Park with only a small overnight bag, having deposited your main luggage at the base hotel. The afternoon is spent comfortably watching the stream of animals that come to the floodlit waterhole and saltlick. Meals and overnight:  The Ark Lodge – (Full Board)

Day 14 and 15: After breakfast, you will be driven to Samburu National Reserve with an en route game drive. As you enter the reserve, you will be able to see two beautiful mountains, Koitogor and Ololokwe, which form the perfect background to your safari. In the late afternoon you will arrive at your camp, which has been inspired by the architecture of the indigenous Samburu tribe and blends into its natural environment by making full use of the local building materials. This will be your home for the next two nights. From your private veranda you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the languid river and the wildlife it attracts – which includes the numerous crocodiles that make these waters their home. Meals and overnight: Samburu Intrepids Camp – (Full Board)

Day 16: After breakfast, depart for Nairobi arriving in the early afternoon. There will be an optional visit to the Daphne Sheldicks for the 1700hrs foster parents visit. This will be followed by a farewell dinner at Talisman Restaurant at the Karen suburb. Afterwards, transfer to the airport to catch your flight home.
